directions for stony brook

Please completely read print these instructions and bring them with you!


The Kick-Off will be held at the Javits Lecture Center on the campus of Stony Brook University on Saturday, January 9, 2010. For those who attended last year, it's the same location.



Driving Directions:
Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) to exit 62 north, and follow Nicholls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. There are three entrances to the university's west campus on your left.



For Buses - Use the first entrance on the left to the University - the South Entrance. Proceed to the first traffic light and turn right onto Marburger Drive. Travel one-half mile. At the round-about, go straight across. Marburger Drive becomes Circle Road. At the 4th stop, turn right onto Campus Drive. Bear right, following Campus Drive for 2/10 mile to a circle. This is the drop-off and pick-up point.



Bus parking will be in the Faculty/Staff Parking Lot on the right as you exit from the circle. At the time of pick-up, if you leave the lot via the rear exit, turn left onto the street, and turn left again at the stop sign, you will be on Campus Drive with the circle ahead of you.



For Cars/Trucks/SUVs/Vans - You can follow the same directions as the buses, and park in the same lot. Or, you can use the second entrance on the left to the University - the Main Entrance. Proceed straight through the traffic light. The parking garage will be on your left. There is no charge to park there.

The University allows very limited exterior signage, so follow these directions closely.



Upon arrival at the Center, one adult Team Leader and one student should register at the Registration Table. You will receive packets of information at that time. Refreshments will be available courtesy of Stony Brook University. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES.



Reminder - Each person attending the Kick-off must have a signed Consent & Release form or hand in an official team rooster from TIMS showing who has and has not signed the form- the forms will be collected at Registration. You cannot register without the completed forms. I will have a very limited supply of blank forms available.

8:30 - 9:30 am Refreshments I ask that everyone be seated in the Lecture Hall by 9:20 am.



9:30 -10:00 am Presentation and announcements



10:00-11:30 am FIRST Broadcast –



11:30 am Distribution of Kits of Parts will begin at the conclusion of the broadcast from

New Hampshire.



Remember that you will need a cart capable of carrying 150 pounds - there are multiple boxes and the kits are heavy! Do not plan on carrying them yourselves! Make sure you have Team number and School District identification on your cart. There will be a designated area to place them until needed.
